Our Mission Statement
We are a Community of Faith, spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to a needy world, one neighbor at a time. We serve God with Passion for Jesus Christ and Compassion for All, through:
- Bible Study: Fridays, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm—Seeking to know God
- Choir Practice: Fridays, 5:30 pm, in the Sanctuary—Seeking to praise God
- Sunday School is offered to all children through a "One Room Sunday School" program. Sunday School is part of our regular church service. Children attend church at 10:00 for all-age worship. They leave for their classes around 10:30 and meet the adults in fellowship following the service—Seeking to teach about God.
- Fellowship: We gather together regularly for fun and community-building. Some of our events are potluck meals, all-church birthday parties, swim/barbeque, and the Methodist Men's dinner (fundraiser), to name just a few—Seeking community to grow in God's grace.
- Prayer Chain: We actively pray for the needs of our members, our community, and our world—Seeking God's blessing and guidance.
What is a United Methodist?
The United Methodist Church is part of the Wesleyan tradition. It came about as a merger between the Methodist and the United Brethren churches in 1968. We are proud of our connection—we are connected to millions of United Methodists across the globe. Traditionally "methodical" in our faith journey, we believe in knowing God through means of grace: public worship of God, the ministry of the word, read or preached, the Lord's Supper, family and private prayer, searching the scriptures and fasting and abstinence.
The polity of the church is determined by a quadrennial General Conference, and the Book of Discipline informs the churches of the Conference rulings. However, faith development—making disciples—is the priority work of the church. We aim to listen to the deepest yearnings of a person's heart to encourage them in developing their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
We celebrate cultural diversity and seek to learn, practice and teach Christian faith in all stages of our lives—from birth to old age.
